Prof. Hussain completed his BSc in 1973 and MSc in 1981 in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Baghdad. After being awarded a Ph.D. from the University of Bradford-UK in 1989, he was appointed as the head of the Mech. Eng. Dept. in the Military College of Engineering – Baghdad for 1990-1997. After that, he occupied many academic and research positions in many countries. He also operated as the manager of the Netherlands Engineering Consultants, NEDECO – Iraq branch 2003-2005. Prof Hussain joined Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) in Malaysia in 2006 till 2023. He is the founder of the Solar Thermal Advanced Research Center in Malaysia.
As a Thermofluids and Energy Technologies leader, he has published more than 300 journals and conference papers, thirteen chapters, and authored and edited 8 books. He supervised over 75 PhD and MSc holders. Prof Hussain has been awarded at different national and international levels for his innovative achievements in the energy sector and conferred the ‘Eminent Scientist Award’ of Wessex Institute – UK.
Associate Prof. Hasanain A. Abdul Wahhab
Dr. Hasanain Adnan Abdul Wahhab holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering in 1996, an M.Sc. in mechanical engineering – Combustion in 2000 from the University of Technology, and PhD in Mechanical Engineering – Combustion and Fuel Technology from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS- Malaysia in 2018. He is a lecturer in the mechanical engineering department at the University of Technology-Baghdad. He is a member of the Iraqi engineers’ union since 1996. Dr Hasanain authored and co-authored nearly fifty papers published in prestigious international journals and conferences. His research fields focus on renewable energy, automotive, power generation, fuel technology, multi-phase flow, and Thermofluids. Currently, his research focus is on combustion operations and magnetization fluids, as well as solar systems.
Assistant Professor Dr. Raed A. Jessam
Dr. Raed Abbas Jessam received a B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1999 and an M.Sc. degree in Power Systems in 2005 from the University of Technology- Iraq. He is a recipient of a Ph.D. degree in 2018 in Mechanical Engineering, Energy from Universiti Technology PETRONAS- Malaysia. Dr. Raed is an academic staff member at the Electromechanical Engineering Department, University of Technology- Iraq, teaching many undergraduate courses in Mechanical Electromechanical Engineering. He has participated in eight international conferences. He managed to publish quality papers in reputable international journals. Along with the academic job, Dr. Raed occupied different positions, such as a member of the exam office for both undergraduate and postgraduate. The areas of research interest of Dr. Raed are energy, renewable energy, Thermofluids, thermodynamics, CFD simulation and analysis, and gas turbine technology.
Dr Raed leads a team of professionals for power plant services and repair. The team managed to provide high-quality diagnosis, monitoring analysis, and problem solutions of thermal power plant faults for many clients. The team is highly experienced in the diagnosis and repair of steam, gas, and combined thermal power plants.
